Privacy Policy
How CITY FM and EBN handle information across our website and mobile apps.
Last updated: 28 June 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how EBN (Entertainment & Broadcasting Network) ("EBN", "we", "us" or "our") handles information in connection with the CITY FM website at www.cityfm.in and the CITY FM mobile applications for Android and iOS (together, the "Services"). CITY FM is a brand operated by EBN, based in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, India.
By using the Services, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Services.
1. The short version
CITY FM is a free internet radio service. You can listen without creating an account, and the app does not ask you to sign in or provide personal details. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising inside the app. The only place we intentionally collect personal information is the contact form on our website, which you fill in voluntarily.
2. Information we collect
a. Information you give us
If you contact us through the website contact form, by email, or on social media, we receive the information you choose to provide — typically your name, email address, phone number and the contents of your message. We use this only to read and respond to your enquiry.
b. Information collected automatically
When you stream the radio or load our website, our servers and infrastructure providers automatically receive standard technical data that virtually all internet services log, such as your IP address, approximate region, device and browser type, operating system, app version, and the date, time and duration of your connection. This information is used to deliver the audio stream, keep the Services secure and stable, and understand aggregate usage. We do not use it to personally identify you.
c. What the app does not collect
The CITY FM mobile app does not require an account or login, does not collect your name, email or contacts, does not track your precise location, and does not contain third-party advertising or advertising identifiers.
3. Device permissions used by the app
To work as a radio player, the app uses a small number of standard permissions:
- Internet / network access — to connect to and play the live audio stream.
- Foreground service & notifications — to keep audio playing in the background and to show playback controls (play, pause) on your lock screen and notification shade.
- Prevent device from sleeping — to maintain uninterrupted playback while you listen.
These permissions are used solely to provide playback. They are not used to collect personal information.
4. How we use information
- To deliver and maintain the live radio stream and website.
- To respond to enquiries and messages you send us.
- To monitor, secure and improve the performance and reliability of the Services.
- To comply with applicable law and respond to lawful requests.
5. Third-party services
We rely on reputable third parties to operate the Services. These providers process limited technical data on our behalf or under their own policies:
- Web hosting — our website and contact form are hosted on standard web hosting infrastructure, which processes server logs as described above.
- Audio streaming — our live stream is delivered through a third-party radio-streaming provider, which processes connection data to serve the audio.
- App stores — the app is distributed through Google Play and the Apple App Store, which collect their own data (for example, download and crash statistics) under their respective privacy policies.
- Web fonts — our website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which may receive your IP address as part of serving those fonts.
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to any third party.
6. Cookies and local storage
Our website uses only the minimal cookies or local storage needed for basic functionality (for example, remembering simple interface preferences). We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
7. Children's privacy
The Services are intended for a general audience and are not directed to children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Data retention
We keep contact-form enquiries only for as long as needed to handle your request and for reasonable record-keeping. Technical server logs are retained for a limited period for security and troubleshooting and are then deleted or anonymised.
9. Security
Our website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and we apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Your rights under the DPDP Act
The Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 ("DPDP Act") and the DPDP Rules, 2025 give individuals ("Data Principals") in India certain rights over their personal data. Where the personal data you have shared with us is concerned (for example, through our contact form), you may:
- request access to a summary of the personal data we hold about you and how it is processed;
- request correction, completion or updating of inaccurate or incomplete data;
- request erasure of your personal data where it is no longer required;
- withdraw a consent you previously gave, at any time (this does not affect processing already carried out);
- nominate another individual to exercise these rights in the event of your death or incapacity; and
- raise a grievance with us about how your data is handled.
The legal basis on which we process the personal data you submit is your consent, given when you choose to contact us. To exercise any of the above rights, or to withdraw consent, email grievance@cityfm.in or use the contact details below. We will respond within the timelines required by law.
11. Grievances and complaints
If you have a grievance about how your personal data is handled, please contact our Grievance Officer (details in the "Contact us" section and on our Copyright & Grievance page). We aim to acknowledge complaints within 24 hours and resolve them within 15 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may escalate your complaint to the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational under the DPDP Act.
12. Links to other sites
The Services may link to third-party websites or social media profiles (for example, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and X). We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites; please review their policies separately.
13. International users
CITY FM is operated from India. If you access the Services from outside India, you understand that your information may be processed in India and in the locations of our service providers.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes may be highlighted within the Services. Your continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy.
